Major international insurer seeks an accomplished Development Underwriter to work from its office based in Leeds city centre.
Spearheaded by one of the most well respected management teams in the industry, this long-standing composite insurance company offers a comprehensive range of commercial insurance products via the intermediary channel.
You will be allocated a panel of brokers throughout the North of England and be tasked with delivering targeted income through the acquisition of profitable new business. As an experienced new business Underwriter, you will use your well honed influencing and negotiation skills to secure non-motor business, which will typically comprise Commercial Combined and Commercial Package risks. You will be working closely with a dedicated team of driven Account Managers and Account Executives, who are committed to the ongoing success of the new business division. Your role will be split 50/50 between internal office duties and external broker visits, therefore you must be comfortable with extensive travelling. You can enjoy dealing with an attractive broker panel comprising some major provincials and nationals, meaning that you will have a wealth of prospect business to target.
It is essential that you have strong technical underwriting knowledge of Property and Liability insurance, together with an excellent track record in a development underwriting capacity. You will already have well established broker relationships in the Yorkshire and surrounding area and whilst not a pre-requisite, ideally, you will have made good progress towards the ACII qualification. Just as importantly, you must be driven, self motivated and ambitious, with a genuine passion for winning new business.
You will be rewarded with an attractive basic salary up to £45K, plus a company car, performance related bonus, and an extensive range of company benefits.
