This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented Commercial Underwriter to join the corporate division of a high profile international insurance company based in Birmingham.
My client is recognised as being a true leader in its field and is renowned for its technical expertise, entrepreneurial approach, and award winning general insurance products. The office has recently undergone changes to enhance the career development potential for its ambitious staff.
Initially, to establish your underwriting authority, you will deal with regional brokers, handling risks up to £25K premium. Once you have built your profile within the department, you will handle the larger risks, building your authority level, over time, up to around £500K, which will involve working with the larger regional and national brokers. Once competent dealing with the larger business, in addition to your underwriting responsibilities, your role will evolve to visiting brokers and developing relationships in a non-sales capacity.
You must have commercial underwriting experience and a trader’s mentality. You will either be an Assistant Underwriter looking for your next step on the career ladder, or an established Underwriter with a real desire to work for a dynamic, forward-thinking insurer. It is essential that you are confident dealing with brokers and that you are keen to have a client facing aspect to your role. Professional insurance qualifications would be advantageous, although not essential.
